In a letter to Senator HitchcocK, President Wilson reiterated liis unqaulified opposition to the attempt by Unit, ed States to evade her obligations un der Article 10. There were some Senators, however, who professed to read in Mr Wilson’s letter, a warrant for cou. tinuing the efforts to arrange a compromise on Article 10 hence the negotiations which have been going on between the Republicans and Democrat!which are continuing. Commenting on the letter Mr Lodgsaid he did not know whether the lett. r would make and difference in the Set' ate Mr Hitchcock said the President pointed out there was not any difference between having no League and attempting to nidify it with reservations, therefore he thought it was better to stay out gracefully, rather than enter disgracefully.
