METHODIST CONFERENCE. (Received this day at 8.40 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. A feature of the Methodist Conference is the exhaustive discussions on relations between Church and workers. The workers position generally is being debated and a pronouncement is being committed to the General Conference on the Christianising of social relations. f This, inter alia, condemns profiteering and the present anarchic unconstitutional methods of seeking redress, and favours an economic system which will ensure the equitable distribution of rewards of industry, giving the worker a share in profits and risks of business, and that will abolish all forms of sweating, profiteering and oppression of one section of the community by another. It declares the church will stand aloof from the toilers’ struggle for more wholesome conditions of life. It’s aim should be Christianising of the industrial relations so that industry will become a religious experience interpreting in economic terms the brotherhood of man and fatherhood of God.
