A grandson of the famous Huxley, Julian Huxiey and another biologist, both of Oxford University, have made an interesting experiment, and discoveries concerning the thyroid glands —a preparation from which caused tadpoles to develope into a frog in three weeks, instead of three months. "When the experimenters imparted the thyroid to the exolotla., the American tadpole, which is only twice or thrice known in history, it developed into a sort of frog or salamander. Huxley’s treatment brought a rapid complete development, with the addition of certain points unknown before. The American, Danish, and Czech biologists reached similar results, actually restoring the rudimentary flatworm to youth. Huxley’s latest discovery is controlling the frog’s sex, by thyroid obtaining ninety per cent malte at will. A TO STOP PROFITEERING. LONDON, February 20.
