The weight of chaff per acre from crops cut for chaff is also above , expectations. No change can he recorded in prices, but the demand is very keen, and everything offering is snapped up bv merchants without delay. Cocksfoot seed is coming in free- ' lv. For high quality 131 b., as much as Is 3d per lb, on trucks at Little River is being paid, but a good deal of tlie seed offering contains a large per rentage of fog and grass, which moans a. big reduction in price owing to the losl ill dressing. Holders are firm however, and many with indifferent samples of seed are asking more than buyers are prepared to give under •the circumstances. Some sales ol . local main crop potatoes for ‘\)>ril deiivei\ have been made at £3 10s per ton on trucks. Prospects for the crop are very good at present. Ihe barley mat. ket is steady in spite of some high buying on the part of one or two pur chasers. Some excellent yields arc recorded! For good prime grain 8s per bushel is the ruling price.
