FLORAL FETE.

A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING

The annual Presbyterian Floral Fete (took place on Cass Square yesterday afternoon under perfect weather conditions. There was a largo attendance ■and much interest was shown in the proceedings. The Municipal Band was present and played an enjoyable musical (programme during the afternoon. The (display made was a distinctly good one, though the failure of the East Coast promises of exhibitions of cut flowers to eventuate robbed that portion of considerable interest. As it was, however, the cut blooms were decidedly good, one or two growers tabling some splendid specimens, though as a whole the blooms were not as robust as on former occasions. In the vegetable section there was a line display of cabbages, while potatoes were also a good selection, and the other portions well contested. The I [decorated classes filled well, and the . (various exhibits allowed much diversion pi taste in the general arrangement. Home industries supplied an interesting display that was tne subject of much inspection, and criticism at the hands ol the lady members of the assemblage, the (general comment being of a very favorable nature. Messrs 11. Haile and E. Dove were the judges, and they carried out their tasks in a satisfactory manner. (The ladies stall and afternoon tea rooms had a busy time, tne former soon selling out the whole of their stocks. The various officials including the secretary |TMr L. Gooch) were attentive to their jduties, and the day passed off very successfully. The following is the prize •list:—
