Mr Massey informed a reporter that the discussion was proceeding in a friendly fashion. He also stated it was likely to be a prolonged discussion. OTAGO MINES AGREEMENT. INVERCARGILL, Feb- 11. As the result of negotiations which have been proceeding for some time between the mine owners, and the miners in the Nightcaps, Wairio and Ohai districts, the “go-slow” policy has been settled. Work under new conditions was started in full swing on Monday morning. It is understood that the men have secured a very substantial increase in 1 wages. As a result, the price of coal to the public has been increased <by the owners by 3s 4d per ton.
