f AUSTRALIAN & N.Jt. CABLE ASSOCIATION | CYCLONE AT ..CAIRNS. BRISBANE, Feb. 4. There has been a phenomenal storm in North Queensland. It consisted of a cyclone :;i?kl tidal waves. The cyclone came down the sea from the north and reached Cairns in . full force. Reports state that a number of the residents have; been injured, while a number of dwellings have been demolished. The small tidal weaves entered right into the streets. The damage done is estimated at £60,000.
ANOTHER TRAGEDY. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. A man to-day shot a woman named Stjeyne in an hotel at Manly, and he then committed suicide. This is the tenth of a series of shooting tragedies here during the past month. MARINE ENGINEERS . STRIKE TO CONTINUE. SYDNEY, Feb. 4. Tlie marine engineers ballot lias resulted in a majority of 215 against any resumption of work under the terms offered. The vote against was small.
