A TOWN DEMOLISHED. BRISBANE, This Day. Advices from Fort Douglas state the town was practically demolished by the cyclone. Many other towns are badly damaged. ATHLETIC CONFERENCE. (Received This Dav at 11.20. a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. At the Athletic Conference, on the sub-Committee’s report upon the proposed programmes for future Australian championships, Mr Parkinson, (Victoria) moved that the Board of Control take a mail vote recommending for confirmation by each affiliated Association an alteration to the programme providing for the abolition of one and three mile walks, to be substituted by a two miles race; the omission of the hammer throw and that the 440 yards hurdles be over three feet instead of 4ft. 6in. obstacles; Chat the discus and javelin throws 'be added to the programme. The resolution was adopted. The- report of the subcommittee appointed to revise the rules and to bring them into line with the International Olympic Federation for the future conduct of athletic events was adopted.
