S.S. PAEROA

The Paeroa, which sailed on an excursion to Milford Sounds on January. 20th at 11 o’clock, reached there next day. at 2.10 p.m. ; after a smooth passage. At 3.30 p.m. anchored at entnmce to Arthur river. A strong northerly gale was blowing at midnight. Passengers were engaged during the next day in shooting a bullock for food, and fishing. Bad weather experienced. On 23rd sailed from Milford for Bligh Sound, and at noon passed into George Sound. Had great'sport catch, ing crayfish, over 600 being caught. The weather was fine and clear. On 24th v passengers away exploring' and' fishing, catching 300 more crayfish. At 8.45 p.m. left George Sound for Jacksons Bay, with strong breeze and sea heavy. At 9 a.m. on 25tk arrived at Jacksons Bay. Went on' to Open Bay Island, where further fishing was indulged in. Left at 9.45 a.m. on 26th for Hokitika, arriving this morning at 2 o’clock. The trip'proved a very enjoyable ono throughout, there being only one day’s rain, and the conditions gqiierally wore very faVoura-ble, all aboard having a most successful time. The trip to Okarito is concolled, the steamer sailing to-morrow afternoon at 4 p.m. for Wellington direct.
