Patrick eamy up for consideration. It was pointed out by Wilson, (Duncan and C 0.,) that where formerly ,there were two settlers (Wallace Bros.) there were now four in the sub-division that had taken place following the auction of the estate. The Commissioner and Mr Clayton held that it looked like aggregation as the total area that would be held by Patrick jf these applications were agreed to would be nearly 1,600 acres, which they considered too much. They thought fliat as be now held nearly 600 acres that was sufficient land. Mr Wilson pointed out that even in tlio event of the two leases in perpetuity applications being refused, there was nothing to stop the areas being brought into freehold, when the Board would havV? no Jurisdiction. Mi' Ward thought there were special circumstances in the matter. The placo was nine miles from the nearest cheese ( factory ,a,nd it was necessary to have ; a fairly large area for grazing purposes. The swamp area was necessary to the homestead area and vice versa. He approved of the granting of the transfer. Mr Houliston opposed tin* transfer considering the applicant had plenty of laud. The motion for approval w C nt t° a division, Messrs Ward and Mnllinson voting in favour and Messrs Houliston ,Clayton and the Commissioner against.
