(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright./
U.S. AND TREATY. NEW YORK, January 14. Mr W. J. Bryap is now pressing for a compromise on the Treaty, and he advocates that the Democrats should lefrain from voting, thus permitting the Republicans to take the responsibility of the immediate ratificatiqn of the Peace Treaty on their terms,
THE FIUME DIFFICULTY. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.)
PARIS, Jan. 13. The Anglo-French proposal to solve the Fiume problem is abandoned as it is not pleasant to both Italian and Jugo-Slav delegations. Hon. Lloyd George submitted a new scheme creating Fiume a corpus separatum under Italian sovereignty, while the League of Nations guarantees that Jugo-Slavs shall have the free use of the harbour and railways.
