Taustbalian & n.z. cable association! DAVIS CUP. SYDNEY, Jan. 14. The attendance of Svdenites at the coming Davis Cup contests this week, promises to be a record. The booking of seats has been extremely heavy. A big crowd of people daily watch the Bri tish and Australian teams practising at their courts.
Roth sides have put in much strenuous preparation and are reported to he in first, class trim. The weather outlook is not promising.
There, lias been a fierce thunderstorm recently, and a flooding downpour swept the city last night, while to-day it is showery. However, the courts are protected by tarpaulin coverings and have not suffered. A stadium to seat many thousands has been erected. By mutual consent, Mr M. H. jMarsli has been appointed referee.
