TEACHERS AND “MOVIES. 'l’liß TRESS ASSOCIATION. —COTYBICHT.] WELLINGTON, January 6. The Educational Institute adopted a remit that in view of the vajue of the moving picture as an educative factor the Government be urged to establish a film bureau for the puripose of supplying suitable material for use' in schools. The Educational Institute Conference Committee, appointed to report upon the remits referring to grading, submitted a series of resolutions.
After a discussion of these, the Conference adopted resolutions to the efI feet that teachers grading should de r pend upon efficiency, academic attainments and years of efficient service; that the present quota system was im equitable. and that Jmm|ediate steps should bo taken to establish uniformity of appraisement in grading as betwoep districts. The following officers were elected; President, Mr W. Phillips; Vice-Presi-dent, Mr J. E. Purchase; Treasurer, Mr A. Erskine; unofficial members, — Messrs W. 11. Newton, Endy, B. N. Blake, and J. C. Webb, Penlington and Garry.
