The match between Hawkes Bay and Canterbury second eleven was continued. Hawkes Bay in the first innings made 276. Canterbury replied with the huge total of 598, (J. Young 238, not out, W. Hayes 103, H. M. Taylor 61). CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 3. The Canterbury second eleven beat Hawkes Bay by an innings and 157 runs. Hawkes Bay in their second innings were all out for 165. The chief scorers were:—Stevens 16, Speckman 20, Cane 35, Bradlnirn 18, Charles 15, and Mills 27, For Canterbury, Howell took 5 wickets for 41, and Worker 2 for 11.
