CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING: GISBORNE,. January 2. The New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union’s championship meeting was brought to a conclusion to-day under ideal weather conditions. The attendance at the Park racecourse totalled three thousand. Last evening the committee- considered a protest by Findlay, who came second in the running long jump championship on the grounds that the event was not held according to the condition. To-day the committee decided that the event should be held again, t-lip result being that F. Findlay (Napier) jumped 17ft 9in, beating R. Hansen (Gisborne) by one inch, and winning the championship.
