THE PEACE TREATY*
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) GERMANY TO SIGN UP. •' PARIS, December 31. It is officially stated that Germany will sign the protocol on the 7th of January. Pile state of peace will be then beginning, and the Treaty will be operating on the Bth.
PARIS, December 31. Ihe Supreme Council has been informed of a rapproachment of views arising out of the Allied and German conversations of an approved basis for an understanding 'being reached. The Allies have consented to register a verbal assurance; and it is expected 'that the Supreme Counfil will tomorrow fix a date for the signature .of a protocol and an exchange of ratifiliation at the Qai D’Orsay. This .is the ceremony in which Mr I Lloyd George will participate. It is semi-officially declared that tile operation of the Treaty is now merely a matter of days and peace has virtually been established from to-day.
