\piioros of the Westland contest the rival - candidate congratulated each other on the way each had conducted the election. The conduct of the election was in an after-the-war spirit; a more chastened and kindly disposed spirit one to the other, than i s usually the case. The contest has hot jleft any sting behind it, with the result that both sides will accept the verdict, and settle down ta the regular routine of intercourse. This is
as it should be. Mr Seddon struck the right note in liis after election speeches. He is there to work for all, and all should make the most use of him. His widened experience will come in useful to himself and party in the altered position of party members, and his parliamentary duties will become more responsible from now on.
