The Westland result was after the manner of public expectations. Mr Seddon was accorded a substantial majority, and in his manly remarks last night he accepted it as a verdict for loyalty—a verdict for themselves. The electorate gave Mr Seddon very generous support all through. In the original Westland area Mr Seddon polled well all along the line. He did very well, too, in the new portion in the North lately added tc the constituency. The people are to be cor gjratulated on the result which id to be appreciated the mefre because of the short time at Mr Seddon’s disposal tc cover all the ground. The loyalty vie tory in Westland is in keeping with the natural disposition and outward expres sion of public feeling hereabouts. It i: well to have this sound demonstration which is in keeping with the Dominioi vote as a whole so pronouncedly in ,fav our of law and order.
