LATE NEWS

ACSTBAMAN <£’ N.Z. CABI/K ASSOCIATION

ITALIAN SOCIALISM. (Received this dav, at 9.30 a.m.) ROME, Nov. 26,

As tlie result of tlie Socialist victory in the elections, a grave crisis is feared involving not only Cabinet, but the ruling house. The new socialists elements are animated by rev' lut'.cnrry sentiments in favour of a Maximalist policy, inevitably leading Polshovikism. This section will almost certainly command the party. They number 150 out of a total of’ 550 deputies. There is talk of disorder at the opening of Parliament to prevent the King being heard and even of insulting or attacking the King. It is contended in some quarters that such demonstrations will clear the air, rousing the voters from the apathy whereto Socialists owe their triumph. ’lt is suggested on tlie other hand that the King will abdicate in favour of Duke A’Osta who is most popular owing to his brilliant leadership of the Third Army.

ALLIANCE PROTEST. (Received this day, at 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A meeting of the N.S’.W. Alliance passed a 1 resolution absolutely refusing to accept the compensation clauses of the new Liquor Act, declaring them illogical, and financially impossible, and making prohibition absolutely impossible.
