KOKATAHI STOCK SALE. At the above yards on Wednesday, Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. held their sale of store stock, the yarding comprising 154 sheep and 176 head of cattle. There was a good attendance notwithstanding the .unfavourable weather. Competition for cattle was in and out', good sorts, especially steers, selling readily at late rates, while old cows and anything under 15 months were in poor demand. Sheep sold well. The following sales wore recorded: — On account Mr J. Dimmick, pen shorn I hoggetts (fat) at 28s 3d; on account Mr A. Wall, 34 woolly hoggets (stores) 28s 9d, 1 rain £l 12s 6d, 30 ewes with 28 lambs at foot at 49s 6d; on account Mr T. O’Neill, 19 ewes with 20 lambs at 335. Cattle.—On account Mr V. Bonar, 7 steers and heifers at £3 2s 6d, 1 cow and calf £5, 1 steer £5, 1 heifer £5; on account Mr J. Dimmick, cow and calf £4 17s 6d, 2 aged cows and calf £5 10s; on account W. Hall, 9 yearling steers at £4 Is; on account Mr W. Jones, 1 heifer at £6 ss, 1 cow at £6 10s, cow and calf ! £7, aged cow £2 10s, 1 shorthorn hull at £9 9s, 1 vealer £2 8s; on account Mr D. J. Diedrichs, 16 2-yr steers at £B, 28 yearlings to 15 months at £5 15s, 2 vealers at £4; on account. Mrs O. Morris, 1 steer £5 10s, 2 heifers at £4; on account W. O’Brien, 9 2-yr. steers at £B.

ADDINCTGN STOCK MARKET. ) l A FIRM MARKET. 3 j (By Telegraph —Special to Guardian.) ; CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. j I Messrs Matson and Co. report as fob I lows regarding their stock sale yesterI day IJ Fat Cattle.—There was a smaller yard j ing and prices were firmer for good j quality steers by £2 to £3 per head. Medium and unfinished were not keenly competed for. The demand all through was spasmodic and the market looks like easing except for prime quality. Extra steers £2B to £35 10s; prime £23 to £26; unfinished £ls to £2O; cows and heifers £l2 to £l4 and up to £lB 10s for extra. Store cattle.—A fair yarding of all classes was represented. The demand ! was easier especially for yearlings. A large line of 4 and 5-year old steers sold ai| £lO 10s to £l3 0s; dry cows £6 to £8; 2-year old steers sold at £8 7s 6d; yearlings £3 Fs to £4 15s. Fat sheep. —There was a medium yard ing and the quality was'very mixed. The market was more regular than last week and kept firm. Best shorn wethers sold to 46s a few special to 51s prime 35s to 42s 6d; medium 31s to 34s Cd; lighter and inferior 27s 6d to 30s od. Best ewes shorn to 41s, prime 29s to 36s 6d; lighter 23s to 28s. Woolley were harder to sell, best wethers to 60s. Store sheep. There was a fairly large yarding the quality was very mixed. The tone was a shade firmer than last sale, especially for all classes of fresh j forward sheep. Travelled or backward 1 , sorts showed no difference. Forward shorn wethers 27s 4d to 31s lOd; best ( shorn hoggets 26$ to 27s lOd; backward j or ditto 21s to 25s 6d; ewes and lambs were not very keen, as good ones were not offering. Woolly sheep were not in such keen demand as shorn." Feed is still backward. ,
