RACING NEWS
DISTRICT RACING MEETING
The District Committee of the Grey Metropolitan Jockey Club met.at Greymouth last evening. Present:—T. E. Coates, (chair); I). J. Evans,• (Hokitika); A. Pcrotti, (Reefton); J. Walton, W. R. Kettle, and E. J. Smith. The Chairman moved that a letter of condolence be forwarded to Mrs M. Hannan and family on the loss sustained through the death of the late Chairman, Mr M. Hannan. In most feeling terms Mr Coates paid a high tribute to one so highly respected and one who would be so much missed in the world of sport. All the members, including Mr Evans, on behalf of the Westland Racing Club, and Mr Perot.ti on behalf of the Reefton Jockey Club, .remarked on the loss that would he sustained through the passing of Mr Hannan.
The meeting adjourned for a few minutes out' of respect of the deceased gentleman. The Kpkatahi Racing Club’s programme for December 29th was passed.
Trainers’ licenses were granted to the following: ,C. A. Hood, C. Wasley, and J. Crearer.
Jockeys’ Licenses were granted to C Wasley, W. Christensen, (on approval of Canterbury Jockey Club), J. Crearer and F. Faulkner.
The disqualification on the horse xClemency for racing at an unregistered meeting, (Okarito) was removed and a fine of :C1 imposed. This was all the business.
