A hoy, the two-year-old son of Mr J. B. King, of South Invercargill, overbalanced and fell into a tub of water at his parent’s place on Tuesday and was drowned.
In connection with the burglary at Timaru at R. R. Randle’s jewellery shop between Saturday and Monday, it has now been found to have meant a loss of about '£l3o, including £l7, cast from the safe.

His Excellency the Governor-General, accompanied by Lady Liverpool will visit Hokitika on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 2. His Worship the Mayor is arranging a programme of reception and entertainment. Their Excellencies will arrive by special train about 3 o’clock and will be received at the railway station by the civic authorities and escorted to- the Town Hall where a public reception will be held and His Excellency will speak. Subsequentely Their Excellencies will be enentertained at afternoon tea. The Terriorials will form a guard of honour if this can be arranged, and the Municipal Band will he asked to parade. The Mayor is declaring a public half-holi-day for the occasion, and is asking the schools to attend the reception under their teachers. Sports will be provided for the children in Hamilton Street, and the scholars regaled with light refreshments. The School Committee will he asked to arrange for the entertainment* of the children. ITheir Excellencies will depart north by the train again at about 5 o’clock, as their steamer hag to catch the tide at Greymouth, whence the vice-royal party leave for the Sounds.
