CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday

Fat Calllo.—There was a small yarding, and the quality was mostly inferior. The demand was good and prices- better than last week for prime cattle. Extra steers sold t.o £37, good £25 to £29, unfinished £l7 to £2O; cows and heifers £l2 10s to £lB and up to £25. for extra. Store Cattle.—There was a medium yarding and all classes were represented. There was a good demand for well grown 2-year-old steers. One station line of 2 to 3-year olds sold at £9 15s to £ll os; dry cows and heifers sold readily at better than late rates. No good yearlings were offered. The demand generally is improving. Fat Sheep.—There was a comparatively small yarding, and the market was much firmer. Wethers sold to £4 12s, prime 46s to 595, medium and lighter 40s to 45s 6d.— Ewes sold in the same proportion, best to £4 3s 6d, prime 43s Cd to 545; medium nd lighter 34s to 425. No shorn sheep wore offered to-day.

Store Sheep.—There was a small yarding, and the market was very firm. Best hoggets sold to 57s 6d, best, wethers 445, others 45s to 51s; ewes jifi iambs., all counted, 14s lid to 245. There was a keen demand for all good shearing sheep.
