PEACE TREATY.

SENATE AND TREATY. NEW YORK, October 20. The Senate’s vote on Senator Johnston’s amendment to the Peace Treaty which is expected shortly, will be extremely close. Senator Long in a statement, pointed out that in the event of the Democrats defeating his resolution re the Treaty ratification, embodying reservations, the Republicans would vote down any attempt to reconsider his resolution.

Senator Long says that 49 Republicans and G Democrats will vote for the reservations. The Secretary of War, Hon. Mr Baker, says that the United States troops who were dispatched to Europe to participate in the holding of plebiscite Si’esia, will not move to Silesia until the United States has ratified the Peace Treaty.

The Times’ Paris corespondent states v,. that the Supreme Council has voted to hold the first meeting of the Council of. ■League of Nations in Paris on the same day as tile formal deposit of the ratifi--1 cations of the Peace Treaty is made. President Wilson has been requested j to issue a call, which will go to Engj land, Fiance, the United States, Japan Italy, Belgium, Greece, Spain and Brazil., j The American delegation is positive that the United States will not be represented on the Council unless the Senate ratifies the Treaty before the meeting.
