ANNUAL HE VIEW, "We have received from the iocal West Coast agents, a copy of the above firm’s “Peace and Victory” number just issued. This interesting Review covers thirty-four pages of interesting matter, leading off with an introducorv article on the early establislimer of Pyne and Co, Gould Beaumont and Co., and Guinness and Le Cren, all of which firms (so well and favourably known in Canterbury) are now embiaeed under the above heading, with a capital of £1,000,000. * The review deals with the growth of the firm’s wool, grain and stock business duiiug recent years, and one has only to see the vast increase in figures to realise the firm’s popularity, and standing. ’ Some idea of the firm’s magnitude may j bo .gathered from the following:—During the season 1918-19 they offered and j sold at their Chrischurch centre 20,098 bales of wool, easily a record. While i for the same period at the Addington | Metropolitan Yards the firm handled > 252,787 sheep, 8,899 pigs and 8054 cattle, exclusive of stores sold at these yards. Some idea of the firm’s land business may bo gauged from the long list of properties sold last season, which make the very formidable total of £1,263,003. The new firm arc now entering extensively into the seed, grain and produce business, and the directors, all of whom are keen far-seeing business men, seem determined to be up with the times. The review contains a vast amount of useful information for farmers and stock growers. Copies of same may bo had from Messrs W. Jeffries and Co., who are the West Coast agents.
