POLLARDS* PICTURES.

A NEW SERIAL.

Pollards announce the commencement of a new serial to be screened on Thursday evening at the Princess Theatre. It is one of the latest oi the great Pathe serial productions, “ The House of Hate.” “ The House of Hate,” -is a sensational film of twenty episodes, and tells a story of absorbing interest which intensifies with each succeeding instalment. Pearl White is the star and Antonio Moreno plays opposite to her. A mysterious figure which moves through the whole story is “ The Hooded i Terror,” whose identity is kept a .secret. The story centres round the owner of a certain munition works, who is hated by all his relatives because of his inflexible temperament, but more especially because be stands between them and the great wealth they expect to inherit from him. In the opening scene of the first episode “ The | Hooded Terror,” the wealthy owner | is murdered, and a sign is left which j threatens that Pearl, his daughter, I will be the next victim. The move- j .nieut of the story is rapid with thrills, following each other with ! breathless succession, and the settings chiefly of society scenes, are on a most lavish scale.

“ The Divine Sacrifice,” the great .World Film’s sensational problem play featuring Kitty Gordon and her daughter Vera Reresford, is to be also .screened on Thursday evening. “The Divine Sacrifice ” centres •round the refusal of a doctor’s wife to accept the divine gift of motherhood. The refusal leads to an estrangement, and then comes the other woman. Dancing scenes are not always a success in pictures, .but there is one in this startling problem play that is a masterpiece of the lascivious Eastern dancing. Splendid dramatic situations and marvellous Algerian scenes hold the interest of patrons until the climax has been reached. I
