AIR CHARLES HILL WELLINGTON, Oct. 9. Mr Charles Hill, a very old arid well-known resident of Wellington, and president of the Te Hiwi Bowling'Club, died to-night, aged 87. CHILD’S SAD FATE. HAWERA, Oct. 9. While playing with a nail barrel containing water, a little boy, Leslie Cuthbert Lovel, aged two years and nine months, of Kopuni, overbalanced. The mother, who was busy in the washhouse, a few minutes later found the child, nearly dead. A doctor was called in, and efforts were made to restore animation, but were unsuccessful.

KILLED IN A GARAGE. AUCKLAND, October 12,

A fatal accident occurred last night in tho motor garage of Pullman and Armiage, when Leonard Hammond the garage manager, was killed instantly. The deceased, with two others, was cutting timber witli a circular saw, and a heavy hardwood wedge got caught in the saw, and was thrown with great force, striking Hammond on the forehead. His head was terribly injured. Deceased, was a married man with two children.

MOTOR CYCLE ACCIDENT. AUCKLAND October 12

A motor cycle and side car, containing three persons, skidded in Ponsonby this morning and struck a tramway pole. One of the occupants Gordon Spinley, aged 20 years received a fracskull and other injuries and is in a critical state. Harold Brinsden, aged 20 was rendered unconscious, but is not seriously injured. A young lady, who was in the side car escaped with a few bruises.
