The Shipping Board has cancelled the sailings to British ports on account of the shipping strike. Bethlehem steel works have struck and the plants are idle. PRESIDENT WILSON. WASHINGTON, Se.pt. 29. Mr Wilson was unable to receive Sir Edward Grey, British Ambassador, as the President is remaining in seclusion at present. FOCH’S DEMAND. LONDON, Sept. 29. General Foch demands that the evacuation of the Baltic provinces he commenced at once. A meeting of British Chambers of Commerce resolved that Colonel Knott’s statements was unauthorised, and called on Knotts to resign. The Chamber entirely dissociated itself from Knott’s proposal to establish a commercial clear ing house in Berlin.
