ITALY’S RESOLVE. (Received This Day at 11.20. a.m.) ROME, September 29.
After a stormy sitting j the Chamber carried amid acclamation Marchesano’s motion affirming that Fiume should be granted to Italiy and expressed confidence in the Government’s efforts by 208 votes to 148. Defying a prohibition, Socialists endeavoured to hold a meeting of protest against the Fiume expedition characterising it as an attempt of Nationalists to force new wars. The demonstrators broke the cordons and headed by six Deputies, reached the centre of the city crying,—-“Long live Lenin, down with d’Annunzio.” Troops charged and dispersed the crowd. Advices from Tiescte state that Serbia has closed her frontier for a fortnight, and the movement of Serbian units is confirmed.
