The explosion shattered her hand which had to be amputated at the hospital.

PRISONERS SENTENCED. DUNEDIN, September 15. At the Supreme , Court to-day the following prisoners were sentenced: Walter Violin Anccll Jarvis theft of a postal packet, was admitted to probation for three years, prisoner to pay the costs of the prosecution; James Parker, on five charges of theft, toreformative detention for a period not exceeding five years; Alexander Ogg, breaking, entering and theft, to six months’ hard labour; Hugh Goodlet, breach of probation conditions, to reformative detention for a period not exceeding three years.
