MELBOURNE, Aug. 10. The National Steeples resulted as follows : Algous 10.1 (Baker) 1 Sir Prim, 12.4 (Moon) 2 Mountain 'Lad, 11.4 (Wood) 3 Sixteen acceptors started. Mountain Lad and Tinana made the early running. The last named isoon went to the front, to be displaced by Sir Prim, followed by Algous and Tinana. Sir Prim led into the straight but Algous by a fast bun won by two lengths. Time 7.4311. Jack Rice and Lady Sunderland were killed by falling. Gladful, Dorain, Cults and Sir Niumon als 0 fell.

RECORDS. (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 9. Algioui’s time in the Steeples was a course record for four miles, over 21 hurdles. It clips oj secs off the previous best. Toison d’Ors time of 1.55$ in the Balaclava Stakes and Prams 3.461 in the Knowslcy Steeple were also records for these events.
