i STARS (Grey; V. PIRATES (Kinni). j This senior match took place on , Cass Square on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a win for Stars by G points, (2 penalty goals) to 3 points (n try). The afternoon and ground was perfect for football, there being no wind and the ball dry, but the game was a very poor exhibition. Both sides : handled badly, with only one or two ! exceptions, the passing indulged in | was not fourth class form, while the 1 scrums were neither solid nor comf pact, the game resulting in a sort of loose scrums and very poor open play. Towards the middle of the second half the form of both sides gave out and tho play was even slower than the rest of the game, the whole exhibition being a distinctly poor one. Stars scored from a penalty right in front of the posts, shortly after the start, Walton piloting the ball over, and they again scored from a penalty with the last kick of tho game, Walton making a nice kick. Pirates scored a try towards the end of the first spell by Carson, which was not converted, and failed to goal quite a lot of shots within kicking range. The game was fairly "oven, the Stars having somewhat the best of tho play and the score about represents their superiority on the day. Mr W. ,T. Pritchard was referee.

UNITED v. MARIST.

The senior match, United v. Marist. was played on Victoria Park on Saturday in ideal weather and before, a fair number of spectators. United were victorious by I I points to 3.
