ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET A FIRMER MARKET.

(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale yesterday : Fat Cattle—There was a medium yarding but was mostly light and inferior quality. The demand was hrmer ail round and prices were firmer, especially for light cattle. Extra steors sold to £27/10/-, good £lB to £2O • cows and heifers £ll to £l4 and up to £l7 for very prime. Store Cattle—There was practically nothing yarded, except a few dry cows, which sold well. The demand outside was better and private sales are being made at firmer prices than lately quoted.

Fat sheep—There was a similar yarding to last week, but the market was again firmer, especially for good stuff. Rest wethers sold to 63/-, prime 41/to 52/7, others 34/6 to 40/6. Ewes showed the same rise proportionately. There is not much chance of the yardings improviug under the present railway restrictions, consequently the market must keep firm. Store Sheep—There was a very small yarding and practically all nondescript sorts, except on© line of two tooth ewes which sold at 33/10 and a small line of good ewes and hoggets at 27/-. Nothing else was worth quoting, but the demand was apathetic, owing no doubt to the poor quality offering.
