POLLARD’S PICTURES. PRINCESS THEATRE—MONDAY. On Monday evening Pollard’s present at tlie Princess Theatre a Goldwyn picture which is wholly unique, and which presents fascinating, bewitching Mabel Normand in a role entirely unlike anything she has ever done before : “Joan of Plattsburg.” She was a little slavey who read the story of Joan of Arc, and who straightway saw visions and heard voices. What was the result? Were the voices genuine? At any rate, she obeyed the voices, and saved her country! What is more, she found a new life for herself, with love to shed its sunshine on the way. The war is only a scarcely-seen background to this human and compelling drama of a girl’s dreams and a girl’s heart. In the first part Mabel’s dresses are too poor to be called dresses. They arc rags. Later they are too rich to be called dresses. They are creations. Splendid scenes and superb acting make this a rare production.
