ORCHESTRAL CONCERT.
I The Princess Tlioatre held a good audience last evening when tli'e Overseas Orchestral concert took place. The programme submitted' was a very en_ joyable one and' consisted of solos by Misses Edna Perry, M. Reynolds, Dot Shand, Private W. Shand, Messrs A. H. Stuart, and E. Short; duet by Misses Hatch and Jones; inusical monologue by Mr W. Berry; recitation by Mr Gibbons; violin solos by Mr A'. Stubbs; club swinging by Miss Nancekivell; Scotch dances by Misses M. and H. King, Maunder and Gibbons, and selections by the Orchestra under the conductorship of Mr W. E. Perry. During an interval, Mr H. M. Coulson (in the absence of the Mayor) extended a welcome to the returned soldiers present voicing the pleasure it gave the community to have them back again. He also took the opportunity of requesting the continuance of their splendid record of the soldier activities for their civilian future and beseeched them not. to allow the danger of Bolshevism to creep into their thoughts. Thanks to the various performers were voiced in art appreciative manner. Mr D. J. Evans (President of the Overseas Chib). endorsed the welcome given to the soldiers and then referred at some length to the question of reparation giving some details of the uionet. airy grants being made by the Govern- , merit Reparation Committee to soldiers in this district and expressing the opinion that the wholesale condemnation of the Reparation Department by the Returned Soldiers Conference was not warranted by the actual facts. The programme was then continued, it being announced that owing to the lengthy list of items, encores should not be asked for. In the first half practically every item was encored and the performers continued to be splendidly received. The accompanists were,— Misses Daly, Giese ; Reynolds, aud Mr Hawn. The National Anthem by the Orchestra concluded a very enjoyable entertainment.
At the Supreme Hall a dance rvas sub. sequent!y held, a good number attending. The nigh't was a capital one for dancing and the trippers spent a pleasant couple of hours before dispersing.
