It appears that Mr James Turner of Stafford was proceeding to Greymouth, and while in Awatuna railway station awaiting the train and in the act of lighting his pipe fell back dead. Assistance was given but was unavailing. The deceased who had been a resident of Stafford for many years and who was very highly respected by all who knew him, was about 62 years of age. He leaves a. widow and family of seven (two sons George and Frederick, and four daughters Elizabeth (married), Annie of Kiinbolton), Louisa, Edith and Emily) to mourn their sudden loss. Mr B. Turner of Stafford is a brother. The sad news caused a great shock to the community, where the deceased was so well and favourably known. Tho remains were removed to Stafford.
