The President’s secretary has received a cablegram from Mr Wilson stating (Jie 'Plenary Council has posL lively decided that the League of Nations must be part of the Peace Treaty.
OBJECTING AMERICANS. NEW YORK, March 21
The New York “Times” Washington correspondent says Senators Reed, Borah and others have declared against the League of Nations. The organisation cabled on March 14tli will send couriers to France for the purpose to see the American people are correctly informed of the events at the Peace Congress; also to communicate to the French press and people, the real American sentiment toward the Peace Treaty and League of Nations. ARGENTINE FOR THE LEAGUE. BUENOS AIRES, March 19. The Foreign Minister of the Argentine Republic conferred with the Ministers of Neutral countries, and he subsequently stated that the Argentine would accept. th e League of Nations in principle. It would suggest some changes in the present covenant. JAPAN’S ATTITUDE. NEW YORK, March 21. The Paris correspondent of the “Times” says:—There is much comment in official circles regarding Japan’s attitude. Important quarters believe Japan will not refuse to join the League of Nations, even if provision or racial freedom is omitted from the covenant.
