It is reported the British Admiralty has prevented the transfer ,of the International Mercantile Corporation fleet- to the United States as previously arranged. ’ The U.S. Shipping Board’s counsel advises the shipping to prevent the transfer of the Board that it has not the power fleet to direct British ownership. Stefanson considered that Storkerson’s seven months polar trip just concluded is of great importance. It was)disclosed that the so-called Kcanan’sLand which is marked on modern Polar charts, somewhere in the region of 74 degrees north lattitudc, 140 degrees west longitude, in 11011-existcnt. The trip has also givjcn a final demonstration of the soundness of Stefanson’s claim that food supplies from the outside may be dispensed with in Arctic expeditionary work, as a constant source of food is always available in seal and bear meat.

The Navy Commission lias been informed that France has been unable to replace her war losses in the nave, ovjng her dockyards and arsenals being fully employed in building submarines, repairing warships and turning out materials for the Allies. Other navies occupied more* 1 advantageous position for reconstruction. France’s navy strength required the surrender of part of her enemies naval tonnage.
