> Yesterday morning, Detective-Ser-geant Ward proceeded to Blackball, wlier (! he arrested Mrs 'Alice Scfibejl. hater in the day, returning to Greymouth, the Detective arrested Mrs Jean Collyns, who had lately been residing at Ituiianga. At 2.30. p.m. both women Were at the Magistrate’s Court, Greymoutli, brought before Messrs F. H. Kilgour and F. C. Wade J.P.'s and were charged that they conjointly with a third male party, did conspire to procure the abortion of ;i young woman from Wellington by means of ap instrument or other means, contrary to the form of the statute. Mr Joyce appeared for accused, and Detective Ward for the prosecution. Detective Sergt. Wal'd asked that the accused should he remanded to appear at Wellington on Wednesday next, February otli. Mr Joyce asked for bail which was granted, being fixed at £IOO each in personal sureties, and another surety of £IOO or two at £250,
