Front Dr Cotter, reporting case of typhoid fever in .Mental Hospital.—Re- , ceived. From Miss A. Keller, tendering resignation as nurse at Westland Hos- * pital.—Received and accepted with regret. From Department of Health, Wellington, offering surplus supplies.—Received. From same, re subsidy.—Received. From, same re expenditure in connection with influenza epidemic..—Received and already attended to. From same, asking return of list ot children dependent for maintenance on Board.—Received; left to Secretary to reply :to. From Minister of Public Health, Wellington in reference to treatment of relatives of returned soldiers, not dis charged.—Received. From Ross resident asking for arrangements for admission of member of family to a sanatorium.—Received. From -Miss E. Dixon acknowledging the Board’s tribute to the late Nurse Dixon.—Received. From AJ.iss J. Strachan, acknowledging the Board’s tribute to the late Mrs B oberts.—Received. From Public Works Office, Ottra, for warding contributions £lO 7s Od and til 7s (id, —Received. From W. F. Richards, offering to supply 50 testimonials for epidemic workers on parchment for £29 12s Gd, and on other paper for £l2.—Received. I lu: Chairman stated that as the Government proposed to provide the testimonials, further action was not necessary. From District Nurse Percival, South Westland, reporting on position.—Received. From Southland Board submitting proposal for supenuiuation for nurses. —Received; referred to Chairman and Secretary to report. REPORTS. From House iC'ommittiee reporting having visited Westland Hospital and found conditions satisfactory; stating the Ala troll was iinding a difficulty in procuring nurses to fill the vacancies caused by the recent epidemic; stating some repairs to the building were required, and attention to the nurses quarters; recommending the erection of a new piggery.—Received and adopted. The Chairman stated that lie had sent a telegram to the Minister of Public Health expressing his appreciation of a statement published in the press that the Minister had made a grant a grant for Westland Hospital rebuilding fund. He said the matter had been hanging on a long time until it was a disgrace to the Department that the rebuilding had boon held up for so long. He intended to move in the matter and hoped to have a concrete proposal to place before the Board sit next meeting. From Finance Committee reporting the Epidemic Accounts totalled £905 12s 3d and recommending ordinary accounts, £551 7s Gd for payment.—Received and adopted. It was resolved to push for payment of maintenance accounts outstanding. From Treasurer reporting receipts £I2BO 5s sd, payments £1.119 15s Id; debit balance £232 Is 3d.—Received. The Surgeon Suptrintendcnt Westland Hospital reported on 30th November there were 39 patients. During December there were admitted 11 males, 9 females. Total treated 37 males. 22 females—s 9. Discharged, cured 19 males, 12 females, died 1 male, 2 females. Total discharged 35. In hospital 31st Dee. 17 males, / females—24. In hospital for over two months 8 males, 1 female—9.—Received. The Board rose at 9.10 p.m.
