PUBLIC SERVICE BONUS. WELLINGTON, Dec. 17
It has. been stated that the Government does not intend to pay a bonus to the Public Service before Christmas, and a special complaint has been made in regard to delay of the bonus to the Post and Telegraph Service. The Postmaster General stated to-dav that airaimements have been made to give the bonus to the Post and Telegraph Service before 'Xmas, and the bonus would be so paid. With regard to the other branches of the Public Service, the Minister said he feared there would be such difficulties about the audit that the bonus would not ho available until January.
A ROBBERY. AUCKLAND, Dec. 1ZThode Bros., a grocer’s store at Avondale was broken and entered during the week-end, goods of a value of £4O being stolen. The indications were that a cart was used to remove the booty.
