The “Times” in an article by its naval correspondent on wartime construction of the British Navy, names twenty-one additions to the British Battle Squadrons. lie mentioned that these nil joined the Grand Fleet since the pre-war Navy List was published. Of the Iron Duke class, there were the Emperor of India and Rcnbow. Five vessels of the Queen Elizabeth class include the Barham, Valiant, Warspite, and Malay. Two Chilians were also taken over and were renamed Canada and Eagle. Five others familiarly known as “Hush Ships,” included th o Repulse, Courageous, Glorious,. Frivolous All were eight hundred feet long and of thirty thousand tonnage, and a speed of thirty to thirty-five knots Although so huge they were completed within a vear while the combination ot m eat speed with heavy armament in a comparatively light draft, would allow them to be used in the shallow waters ot the North Sea and Baltic, to catch and smash the retreating enemy.
