A MEASLES OUTBREAK

WELLINGTON. This Day

An Auckland message received here states that though there are no eases of influenza on the Makura, measles are nrovailing on that vessel. The Press Delegates are stated to bo passengers.

ASHBURTON OPINION

ASHBURTON, Nov. 27

The Ashburton County Council to-day passed a resolution: “That this Council expresses its strong opinion that the Delegates from this Dominion at the Peace Conference should urge that the Central • Powers be made to defray the expenditure which this Dominion’s Government has now incurred and also the future cost caused by the war, and this Council hopes the delegates will insist on the German colonies in the Pacific not being handed over to their former possessors.

The Peace Celebrations Committee adopted a tentative programme, the suggestion being to commence on a Sunday with thanksgiving service, to be followed during the week with decorations and illuminations for three days, with monster processions and a children’s fete.
