H. Adamson being | the heaviest buyer operating, ihe.j presence of the genial “Pie” is always j a sure sign that bidding will be i animated and interspersed with chafl. j and banter, a welcome tonic to ns j tired cow-puncliers. j At the conclusion of the stock sale j an adjournment was made to the ball j where the good ladies of Hari Hari, | braving the elements, were in full ; grace entertaining the children, dis- j j playing and selling their assortment : j of ready-made clothing, dairy produce, j cakes, etc , and preparing for the on- i si aught which was made on their j afternoon tea and cookies of all de- ! scriptions. A pleasingpart of the evening’s entertainment was a selection rendered by the school children whose effort elicited a silver shower, Mrs C. Otterman being the accompanist. Refreshments were again provided by the untiring ladies and full justice was done to the good iare. To one who is aware of the multifarious duties which fall to the lot of the country woman, especially at a time when labour is short and the dairying operations demands the constant attention of all hands on the farm, the unremitting efforts of these ladies are deserving of the highest praise and emulation. Mr Win Punch officiated as M.C. in Ins usual thorough style, and Mr Wra Roesler whose services are always in demand at similar functions provided the usual good musical fare. Both these gentlemen rendered their services gratuitously, and we thank them. The presence of some returned diggers lent a poignant note to the scene, and was a reminder to many of the stern reality underlying our gain The nse of the hall was donated by the hall committee whose action is much appreciated.
