INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] CASES AT LYTTELTON. CHRISTCHURCH, Tjiis Day. Sixteen eases of influenza have been, reported on board an Overseas steamer in Lyttelton. The vessel’s crew numbers fifty, and of the men affected the eases comprise ton firemen and six seamen. The medical man stated the vessel came to Lyttelton a clean ship, and the disease was contracted ' there. Every precaution lias been taken to prevent the disease spreading on the vessel. Tho epidemic has been severe, but it was now abating . THE MILTARY CADIP. WELLINGTON. This Day. All the military camps have been visited by influenza. At Featherston the total admitted to the hospital for influenza was 58, and the total with influenza now is 299. At Trentham the total admitted yesterday was 59, and the total with influenza in hospital is 148. A number of the troops concentrating at Wellington yesterday for camp were returned to their homes in consequence of the disease being prevalent' in the camps. These men were mostly from Wellington Province and Canterbury.
