NEW ZEALAND’S PART. THE TOLL OF WAR, NEARLY 7000 CASUALTIES. WELLINGTON, October 22
Sir James Allen has received information that the New Zealand Division is at present resting at the front. The total casualties of the Division during the period from August 23rd to October 21st were 6,900. The Minister said ho regretted exceedingly tho heavy casualties. At tin same time, ho shared tho pride that all New Zealand people would feel at the splendid record of the Division. The New Zealanders had stayed in the lino during tho great- Allied atta.- 1 for two months and during that time they never lacked adequate reinforcements. Their deeds had been maae possible by the support which they received from t-liis country.
