WIMMERA ENQUIRY.
OAPT. KELLS HELD NEGLECTFUL. {PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT 1 AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. The finding of the Court regarding tlic loss of Wimmera hold that—“ The facts wore consistent with an explosion of a moored mine ; that the vessel was travelling in fifty fathoms of water and through a minefield laid by the enemy, for other mines had been found in the vicinity. There was no room for doubt that the vessel struck a moored mine, notwithstanding a warning issued to Cnpt. Kell on October 10th 1017 and November 2nd 1017. It was apparently impossible to come to any other conclusion that the loss of the ship was due to his neglect. The fact that the Captain remained with his ship to the last and gave his life, was in accord with the best traditions of the British mercantile marine.
