A novel exploit is reported. Two British airmen opened fire on a body of Bermans, sheltering in a trench. The Germans hoisted the white flag. A pilot, circling overhead at a low altitude, shephearded sixty prisoners to the British lines.
HAIG S AIR REPORT.
LONDON, September 20. Sir Douglas Haig’s aviation report states: Our aviation observers reported much damage to enemy batteries as the result of our artillery fire. Wo dropped 12} tons of bombs on two aerodromes, while several rail junctions are being heavily attacked. Then: is much air fighting. We destroyed 31 aeroplanes and drove down 22. 'Fen British machines are missing. Eight enemy balloons have been destroyed.
