Notice of tho straying of two calves at Arahura appears in this issue. A practice will be held at the Supreme Hall at 7.30 to-night of principals and chorus of the Paul Jones Opera. The Paeroa sailed at 1,30 this afternoon, for Bruce Bay and Okuru. She returns with a load of sheep from Okuru. The Chief Postmaster advises that owing to floods and washouts the South Westland mails duo here on Monday morning will not reach Hokitika until Thursday morning. St. Mary’s Club will hold the usual weekly ouehro tournament and dance to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. Good prizes and supper with dance to follow. —Advt. The death of Mr. Samuel Michel, took place after a short illness, at the Grey River Hospital, yesterday. Deceased. who succumbed .to an attack of pneumonia, was only nineteen years of age, and was on ’the staff of the Railway Department. He was a son of Miami Mrs Michel of Brick Street, Greymouth, and besides the bereaved parents, there are several brothers and sisters left to mourn their loss. Mr. Michel, Hairdresser, Mawhera Quay be[sg one of the brothers. Deceased was i nephew of the Hon. 11. L. Michel.
