T’F.Il PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT ] french REPORT. LONDON, September 21. A French communique states: —We advanced eastwards of Essiguv-le-Grand aEo on Maisy Fanny Plateau, and took prisoners. There was lively arlillerying in the region of St Quentin. A French communique reports .that in the region of St. Quentin last evening the French captured Essigny-le-Grand, and took mor 0 prisoners. South of the Ailette the night was marked by violent enemy reactions. Five times his counter-attacks were smashed against our new positions. North of the Allemalno and east of Moisv farm the enemy, whose losses were very heavv, has not achieved the slightest‘’result! We gained ground west of Aisy, north-east of Vaally. An enemy attempt to cross the \ esle at Joubhery failed. Our reconnaissances penetrated enemy lines northwest of Bouain. A French communique states: At night-time our troops operating in the region of St. Quentin captured Bonay and progressed northward thereof.
A FRENCH REPORT. LONODN, Scut. 20th. A Fi'C’ch report states: Our troops on the 19th inst. continued their ate tacks in the region westward ot St. Quentin, extending their gams, despite a stubborn resistance. \\ e advanced beyond Contesconrt, which is ours Southward we reached the outskirts of Benay. On the plateau westwards of Jouy the enemy again coun-ter-attacked unsuccessfully. We inflicted heavv losses to the enemy and appreciable increased our advance.
